About this opportunity
This scholarship supports students undertaking research in the field of causes, prevention and treatment of mental and physical pain and distress during pregnancy, labour and the puerperium. The scholarship has been established to provide financial assistance to a PhD student conducting research in this specific area. It is funded by Albert Stanley McKern and is administered through the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. The scholarship provides a stipend equivalent to the University of Sydney Research Training Program rate for up to 3.5 years, subject to satisfactory academic performance. Successful newly commencing international recipients may be eligible to be nominated for the University of Sydney International Tuition Fee Scholarship. Recipients must be enrolled full-time in a PhD program and must not have completed more than four research periods of candidature at the time of application.

Candidates are assessed and ranked based on paid work experience (20%), publications (60%, with most points for first-authored Q1 journal publications), and other research outputs (20%).
