Dr. Charles I. Switzer Memorial Scholarship

The Dr. Charles I. Switzer Memorial Scholarship supports junior and senior English majors at Eastern Illinois University who demonstrate academic excellence and a commitment to the field. Recipients must maintain a minimum 3.2 GPA in their English major and be enrolled full-time. Preference is given to students planning to pursue graduate work in English or to become certified teachers. The selection process requires an essay addressing service and professional involvement, academic achievement, scholarship, and leadership. Financial need may be considered at the discretion of the selection committee. This scholarship is renewable, allowing recipients to reapply provided they continue to meet the eligibility criteria. The award is announced in the Spring and disbursed in the Fall semester.
