About this opportunity
The Dr Chris Muir Residential Scholarship is part of the UQ Residential Scholarships Scheme and provides financial support to domestic students enrolled full-time at the University of Queensland who are residing at an approved accommodation provider. This scholarship aims to assist students experiencing financial hardship, with preference given to applicants who have a usual place of residence in Papua New Guinea. The scholarship was established in 2025 by gifts from Mrs Dymphna Muir and Alumni Friends in honour of Dr Chris Muir, former president of Alumni Friends. Alumni Friends dates back to 1967 and has contributed significantly to UQ's continued growth and development through supporting UQ students, researchers and educators. The scholarship provides $7,000 per annum, though this amount is subject to the annual distribution from the relevant fund and may vary in some years. The duration of the scholarship covers the minimum completion time of the student's program.
