About this opportunity
The Dr. Curtis Jones Leadership Award Scholarship honors Dr. Curtis Jones, the 2019 National Superintendent of the Year and Superintendent of the Bibb County Public School District. Dr. Jones is a West Point graduate with a doctorate in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University and a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel with over 20 years of experience in education. This scholarship was created by the Macon-Bibb County community in his honor.
The purpose of this scholarship is to award a college scholarship to a graduating senior from a Bibb County Public School District high school who exemplifies Dr. Jones's guiding principles of Leadership, Scholarship, and Citizenship. The scholarship recognizes well-rounded students who demonstrate exceptional qualities in these areas and are involved in extra-curricular activities and athletics.
The award is initially $1,875 per year and is renewable for up to 4 years in college. Each high school principal in the Bibb County School District may nominate up to three graduating seniors, and one recipient will be selected annually. Recipients must maintain eligibility criteria to renew the award each subsequent year.
