Dr Donald Malcolm MacArthur Scholarship

University of St Andrews Original Source

About This Opportunity

The Dr Donald Malcolm MacArthur Scholarship is kindly supported by a generous donation from Diana MacArthur in memory of Dr Donald M MacArthur, 1954. The award is open to students applying for courses within the Faculty of Science who are domiciled in the Western Isles, with preference given to those who have attended the Nicolson Institute on the Isle of Lewis. The scholarship forms part of the Wardlaw Scholarship scheme, established in 2004 to provide financial assistance to academically gifted students who would otherwise struggle with the cost of studying at the University of St Andrews. The award provides £4,400 per year towards maintenance, which can also be used towards University accommodation fees. Maintenance is paid in ten monthly instalments directly to the student's bank account from September to May. This award is paid annually for the duration of the student's undergraduate programme. Selection is based on financial need and donor-specific criteria, and recipients are expected to engage with Development Office events and submit reports to share with donors.
