About this opportunity
The Dr Eileen Fair Masters Scholarship in Earth Science is a postgraduate scholarship for Massey University graduates from the Mid-Central District of New Zealand. The scholarship supports full-time Master of Science students in earth science disciplines including geomorphology, geology, climatology, and soil science. Named after Dr Eileen Fair, who graduated from Massey in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science and completed her Master of Science in 1968, the scholarship honors her legacy in earth science research and her successful career as a businesswoman in Palmerston North. Dr Fair's master's research identified the date of formation of the Manawatū river valley, and she later earned her PhD from Southern Illinois University focusing on limestone weathering in stalagmites and stalactites. The scholarship provides $10,000 NZD for one year to support one recipient annually. Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents from the mid-central district (Whanganui, Manawatū, Tararua, Hawke's Bay) who have completed their undergraduate degree at Massey University's Manawatū campus. Selection is based on academic merit and references.
