Dr. Eileen Hayes Memorial Scholarship

The Dr. Eileen Hayes Memorial Scholarship honors Dr. Eileen Hayes' memory and promotes the continuation of her work in nursing education. The scholarship supports graduate nursing students who share Dr. Hayes' passion for mentoring and coaching as teaching tools. Dr. Hayes was known for her distinguished career and contributions to nursing, particularly her research and publications on coaching methodologies. She advocated against punitive teaching styles and promoted coaching as a method to help practitioners gain more compliance from patients, particularly diabetic patients. The scholarship was established by Dr. Patrick J. Hayes, and is currently overseen by his children, Mrs. Suzanne Hayes-Daviau and Mr. Sean D. Hayes. Recipients must demonstrate interest in mentoring nurses and using coaching as a teaching tool, with plans to continue mentoring new professionals after graduation.
