About This Opportunity
The Dr Elsie Yanik Scholarship in Native Studies is awarded to students who are First Nation, Inuit, or Métis people of Canada in accordance with the Constitution Act, 1982, Part 2, Section 35(2). Recipients must demonstrate superior academic achievement and be enrolled in any year of an undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Native Studies at the University of Alberta. Selection is based on academic standing, with preference given to students from northern Alberta. This endowed scholarship was established by Syncrude Canada Ltd in memory of Dr Elsie Yanik to support Indigenous students pursuing studies in Native Studies.
