About this opportunity
The Dr Gordon and Mrs Joan Colditz Scholarship is part of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Scholarship Scheme at The University of Queensland. This scholarship was established in 2018 by Dr Graham Colditz in memory of his late father, Dr Gordon Colditz, and his late mother, Mrs Joan Colditz. In 2023, an additional gift was matched under The Queensland Commitment.
The scholarship provides financial support of at least $4,500 for one year to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who can demonstrate financial hardship. At least one scholarship is awarded annually. Preference is given to students enrolled in coursework programs administered by the Faculty of Medicine or its equivalent, though awards may also be made to students in health-related fields.
Applicants are assessed based on demonstrated financial hardship, personal qualities including leadership potential, academic ability, and other factors relevant to future academic success. The scholarship is available to both current and future University of Queensland students enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate coursework programs.
