About this opportunity
The Dr Harry Sherk Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students who are First Nation, Inuit, or Métis people of Canada in accordance with the Constitution Act, 1982, Part 2, Section 35(2) with superior academic standing entering the second, third or fourth year of study in a Bachelor of Education degree. Selection is based on academic achievement. This endowed scholarship was established by Edna Sherk in memory of her late husband, Dr Harry Sherk, who earned his BEd (1962) and MEd (1964) from the University of Alberta and his PhD from the University of Colorado (1970). As an Associate Director with Alberta Education, Dr Sherk helped to initiate collaborative curriculum development projects with Aboriginal communities, making this scholarship a fitting tribute to his legacy of supporting Indigenous education.
