About this opportunity
Awarded to a graduate student currently registered in the specialization of Epidemiology/Health Management at the Atlantic Veterinary College. This award honors Dr. Ian R. Dohoo, a professor emeritus of epidemiology at UPEI and founder and past-director of the Centre for Veterinary Epidemiological Research. Dr. Dohoo attained his DVM from the University of Guelph in 1976 and PhD in epidemiology in 1982. He was one of the original faculty to establish the Atlantic Veterinary College in 1985. His extensive publications include the graduate-level textbook Veterinary Epidemiologic Research and Methods of Epidemiologic Research. Dr. Dohoo has been recognized nationally and internationally as an excellent teacher, receiving numerous awards including election as an inaugural Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences in 2005, Honorary Doctorate degrees from Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (2008) and University of Guelph (2012), and the 2012 Calvin W. Schwabe Award for lifetime achievement in veterinary epidemiology and preventive medicine. This award was created by his colleagues as a retirement gift to honor his lasting contribution to building the academic foundation of the Atlantic Veterinary College.
