Dr. Kenneth E. Hadwiger Foreign Cultures Award

The Dr. Kenneth E. Hadwiger Foreign Cultures Award is a scholarship for undergraduate and graduate students at Eastern Illinois University who are majoring in Communication Studies. The award recognizes students who demonstrate a special understanding of European or Asian cultures and social structures. Recipients must be full-time students enrolled at EIU, preferably in the Department of Communication Studies, though students in the College of Arts and Humanities may be considered if no qualified Communication Studies students apply. Applicants are required to submit a brief essay (500 words or less) describing their experiences with European or Asian cultures and how they plan to share their knowledge and experiences to create cultural awareness at Eastern Illinois University. Recipients must be in good academic standing, and financial need is not a consideration. The award is renewable, allowing recipients to reapply in subsequent years if they continue to meet the criteria. This award is announced in the spring and awarded in the fall semester.
