About This Opportunity

The Dr. Kristine Bennett Honorary Scholarship was developed by parents, teachers, colleagues, students, and others who are grateful for Dr. Bennett's selfless service to helping students flourish. This scholarship will be used to help high school seniors in Hillsborough County to prosper beyond high school. Dr. Kristine Bennett has been a dedicated educator since 1998 who has impacted the lives of thousands of youth in the Tampa Bay area through her leadership and mentoring roles. The scholarship is designed to support Hillsborough County high school seniors with strong academic performance and a demonstrated commitment to community service. Recipients must have good academic and behavior standing with a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA and at least 75 verified community service hours. The scholarship recognizes students who exemplify dedication to education and service, mirroring Dr. Bennett's own commitment to youth development. The scholarship is administered by the Peirano Family Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Tampa, Florida. Applications undergo a blind review process by a panel of outside judges to ensure fair and impartial selection. Multiple scholarships are typically awarded each year, with award amounts of $500 or more per recipient. Past recipients have pursued studies in biomedical sciences, pre-medicine, animal sciences, economics, finance, and biomedical engineering at various universities including the University of South Florida, University of Florida, University of Pennsylvania, and University of Alabama at Birmingham.
