Dr. Linda F. Pessar Cowan and Dr. Richard B.T. Cowan Medical Scholarship

Established by Dr. Linda F. Pessar Cowan and Dr. Richard B.T. Cowan in 2021, this scholarship supports incoming medical students from historically underrepresented communities at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo. Underrepresented is defined as individuals who have been historically underrepresented in a particular field of study, profession, or educational pathway based on factors such as socioeconomic background (e.g. Pell eligibility), first-generation college status, geographic origin, educational access, AmeriCorps alumni status, veteran status, or other unprotected characteristics. Preference is given to students in the medical field, and the scholarship may be renewable.
