About This Opportunity

The Dr. Lorene Kennedy Graduate Student Field Research Award is offered by the University of Victoria to support graduate students in the School of Environmental Studies (SES) who need to offset additional costs associated with field research conducted as part of their graduate degree. This award recognizes the financial challenges students face when conducting environmental field research. Examples of eligible expenses include travel and accommodation costs, equipment purchase and training, sample treatment and processing, and the Wilderness First Aid course. The award is designed to enable students to pursue field-based research that might otherwise be financially prohibitive. Approval of recipients is made by the Faculty of Graduate Studies Graduate Awards Committee based on recommendations from the School of Environmental Studies. One or more awards are given annually, with amounts varying based on available funding and student needs.
