About this opportunity
The Dr. Margaret F. Munro Entrance Award in Nursing (Accelerated) is awarded to the student with the highest academic record entering the UPEI Accelerated Nursing Program. This award was established by Dr. Margaret F. Munro, who was central to the creation of the UPEI School of Nursing beginning in 1990 when she was seconded from the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Calgary to develop the nursing program at the University of Prince Edward Island. In 1991, Dr. Munro was invited to become the Founding Dean of the new UPEI School of Nursing and remained in that position until July 1997 when she retired. The curriculum of this school was the first in Canada to be developed based directly on the principals of primary health care. Dr. Munro supports the UPEI School of Nursing in many ways, including providing student awards and scholarships, offering guidance on program delivery, and teaching.
