Dr. Margaret F. Munro Entrance Bursary for Nursing

The Dr. Margaret F. Munro Entrance Bursary for Nursing is awarded to a student entering the UPEI Faculty of Nursing who has a demonstrated financial need. This bursary was established by Dr. Margaret F. Munro, who was central to the creation of the UPEI School of Nursing beginning in 1990. Dr. Munro was invited to become the Founding Dean of the new UPEI School of Nursing in 1991 and remained in that position until July 1997 when she retired. The curriculum of this school was the first in Canada to be developed based directly on the principles of primary health care. Dr. Munro has continued to support the UPEI School of Nursing in many ways, including providing student awards and scholarships. In 2016, Dr. Munro made a generous decision to fully endow all of her six awards at UPEI, including this entrance bursary.
