Dr. Mark D. H. Lawrence Memorial Award

The Dr. Mark D.H. Lawrence Memorial Award is presented annually at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) Recognition Night to a third year Atlantic Canadian student who demonstrates proficiency in small animal medicine and surgery, has financial need and shows leadership in student or community affairs. The Canadian veterinary community was saddened by the loss of Dr. Mark Lawrence in a skiing accident on February 23, 2001. Dr. Lawrence, originally from Amherst, Nova Scotia, obtained his DVM degree in 1983 from the Ontario Veterinary College and was the dedicated owner of Valley Veterinary Hospital, a successful small animal practice in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The memorial fund has been established at the University of Prince Edward Island by colleagues, friends and family to honor his dedication to the veterinary profession and his commitment to small animal medicine and surgery.
