About this opportunity
The Dr. Michael Bailey Scholarship Fund provides a meaningful scholarship to fourth year medical school students attending Mercer University's School of Medicine on the Macon Campus. Established in honor of Dr. Mike Bailey, a pioneer in invasive cardiology who came to Macon in 1975 and performed the first cardiac catheterization in Central Georgia in 1976, this scholarship aims to inspire a pioneering spirit in the advancement of innovative healthcare methodology to future physicians.
The scholarship is awarded to rising fourth year medical students from the state of Georgia who are pursuing an M.D. degree at Mercer University's School of Medicine on the Macon Campus and plan to complete an Internal Medicine Residency. The ideal recipient is a student who is hardworking, compassionate, and deserving.
Preference may be given to Boy Scouts who achieved the rank of Eagle Scout or Girl Scouts who received the Gold Award, those with community service activities, and/or first generation college students. One new recipient is selected annually, receiving an award of $25,000.
This scholarship is administered by the Community Foundation of Central Georgia, which serves the central Georgia region and supports philanthropic efforts in education, healthcare, and community development.
