The Dr Michael C Koilpillai Prize in Neuro-Psychiatry is awarded annually to a convocating student in the MD program at the University of Alberta. The prize recognizes superior academic achievement during the psychiatry rotation, overall superior academic excellence, and a particular interest, aptitude, and potential for further study in the field of Neuro-Psychiatry, Psychiatry, or Neurology. This endowed prize was established by the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Dr Michael Chakravarthy Koilpillai to cherish his memory and honor his devotion and commitment to the medical profession. Dr Koilpillai was a University of Alberta graduate, a practicing psychiatrist, and resident in Neurology at the University of Alberta Hospital at the time of his sudden and premature death.
