Dr. Rachel E. Tierney Nursing Scholarship

Established in 2009 by alumna Dr. Rachel E. Tierney, this fund endows scholarships for doctoral nursing students at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Dr. Tierney is an alumna who received her BS in Nursing in 1962 and MS in psychiatric-mental health nursing in 1974 from the Elaine Marieb College of Nursing, as well as a PhD in health policy and management from the School of Public Health and Health Sciences in 1990. The scholarship supports nursing students pursuing a doctoral degree in Nursing who have completed the equivalent of one full year of doctoral course work and have interest in behavioral/mental health, public health, or health policy. Recipients are automatically considered based on their completed General Application through the UMass Amherst scholarship portal.
