About this opportunity
The Dr. Regis Duffy Academic Achievement Award is presented annually to a graduating student at the University of Prince Edward Island who has demonstrated to an outstanding degree the qualities of scholarship and leadership within the University community, and who is not receiving a Governor General's Medal. The award includes a cash prize of $1,000 and a medallion. This prestigious award was created in honour of Dr. J. Regis Duffy, a distinguished scientist and entrepreneur who played a pivotal role in the development of UPEI and the Island's economy. Dr. Duffy was the first Dean of Science at UPEI and went on to establish BioVectra DCL, a major manufacturer of fine research chemicals and analytical systems.
The award recognizes students who embody excellence in both academic achievement and community leadership, reflecting Dr. Duffy's own commitment to scholarship, innovation, and service. Recipients are selected based on recommendations from members of the university community, highlighting their outstanding contributions to campus life and academic excellence.
