Dr Chong served as a Councillor for the City of Whitehorse including two terms as Mayor, worked with the Royal Australian Air Force, and held founding chair positions for various community organizations including the Eastern Health Foundation. The scholarship aims to support students in vocational education and training pathways, reflecting Dr Chong's commitment to education and community development.
