Dr. Rowena McClinton Excellence in History Education Award

The Dr. Rowena McClinton Excellence in History Education Award provides scholarship support for underrepresented SIUE students majoring in History and seeking a secondary education certification. Recipients are selected in the spring semester when they are student teaching and must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 in History courses. While preference is given to underrepresented students, all eligible students are encouraged to apply. The award amount is anticipated to be $1,000 for a single student or two $500 scholarships if there are two recipients, though the final amount will be determined based on available funds. These funds may be used for tuition or applied to educational costs. The award is given in conjunction with Honors Day. Applications are submitted to the Honors and Awards Committee in the Department of History, and recipients are chosen by this committee from applications received. Students are automatically considered based on their completed General Application.
