About this opportunity

The Dr. Séamus McDermott Entrepreneurial Scholarship is awarded annually to promote the concepts of entrepreneurship, job creation, entrepreneurial development and education for life in the minds of undergraduate student entrepreneurs at University College Cork. The scholarship is made possible through a generous philanthropic gift from The Liffey Trust. Ten first year students will receive this scholarship worth €3,000 per annum, disbursed equally over a maximum period of three years per recipient, totaling up to €9,000 per individual. One of the 10 scholarships will be awarded each year. The scholarship is open to all UCC registered students in the first year of their undergraduate studies and is awarded based on a 2,000-word essay addressing matters of personal engagement in entrepreneurship, job creation and entrepreneurial development. The selection process involves an initial UCC panel consisting of four academic College Representatives and one central university representative, who shortlist 5-10 top applicants for final consideration by the Liffey Trust.
