About This Opportunity

This scholarship will be granted to a student entering their third year of the DVM program at Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) who is well-rounded and academically-proficient, and who has demonstrated initiative and interest in research activities. The scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Thomas Alexander Wade Taylor, who began his university education at UNB Fredericton in geology and then studied dentistry at the University of Dalhousie in Halifax, Nova Scotia, graduating in 1963. He pursued his career as a dentist for over 41 years, overseeing a practice in Halifax and St. Andrews, retiring in 2004. While in Halifax, he taught dentistry at Dalhousie University. As a trustee of the Sir James Dunn and Christofor Foundations, Dr. Taylor provided consistent support and encouragement over 20 years for the development of the Sir James Dunn Animal Welfare Centre at the Atlantic Veterinary College. In recognition of Dr. Taylor's interest in AVC, his work and support for the Centre, and his scholarly and inquiring mind, this award was established in his memory.
