Drs. Christine and Larry Helsel Public Relations Scholarship

The Drs. Christine and Larry Helsel Public Relations Scholarship supports undergraduate students at Eastern Illinois University who are pursuing a career in public relations. This scholarship is specifically designed for minority or non-traditional students who have declared a major in Communication Studies with a Public Relations option. Recipients must be U.S. citizens and Illinois residents with a minimum 3.20 GPA who demonstrate financial need. The scholarship prioritizes students who show commitment to the Public Relations Student Society of America, EIU Chapter, and are interested in working in the public relations profession rather than attending graduate school. Applicants must submit an essay outlining their professional goals in public relations. The award is announced in the Spring semester and paid the following Fall semester. Recipients may receive the award up to two times if they continue to meet the eligibility criteria.
