About this opportunity
The Duchesne College Peter and Lea Walker-Franks Residential Scholarship Bursary is part of the UQ Residential Scholarships Scheme. Established in 2024 by Peter and Lea Walker-Franks under the Create Change Scholarship Match Initiative, this scholarship provides annual distributions from an endowment to support students experiencing financial hardship with the cost of residential fees at Duchesne College. The scholarship is valued at $5,000 per annum, subject to the annual distribution from the relevant fund, and may be more or less in some years.
The scholarship is available to domestic students enrolled full-time in an approved undergraduate program who are residents at Duchesne College and can demonstrate financial hardship through documentary evidence. Preference is given to applicants from regional, rural, or remote areas, as well as those who are first in family to attend university. The scholarship has a duration of 3 years and one award is available annually.
Applicants need to submit only one application to be considered for all scholarships in the Aspire Scholarship scheme, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Scholarship Scheme, and the UQ Residential Scholarship scheme. Required application materials include a QTAC reference number, evidence of financial hardship such as Centrelink statements, ATO statements, or family income documentation, and evidence of regional/rural/remote residency. The scholarship aims to reduce financial barriers to higher education for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
