About this opportunity
The E. Ohnuki-Tierney Book Award for Historical Anthropology is a bi-annual award recognizing outstanding scholarship in historical anthropology. To be considered for this award, a book should be an outstanding example of scholarship that focuses on "culture as historical processes." The research must take into account an historical period of suitable length that is necessary and sufficient for the project undertaken. The research should be grounded in both ethnographic and historical materials, and shows critical uses of social theory, broadly defined. The recipient will receive a $800 cash award and a certificate. The award will be presented to the recipient at the AAA Annual Meeting, and is made possible through a gift from Emiko Ohnuki-Tierney. The nominated work must have been published within the preceding two years by a university press or a well-recognized commercial press.
