About this opportunity
The E. Paul & Jane Humke International Mathematics Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student for participation in the summer or fall study abroad Mathematics Program in Budapest, Hungary. The scholarship provides up to $7,000 towards the costs of the program. For the summer program this would cover most of the tuition cost, while for the fall program, it would cover about a third of the tuition. The student would be responsible for remaining expenses. The program is eligible for financial aid and students should explore additional funding options with the study abroad office.
Eligible students include mathematics, applied mathematics, and actuarial science majors with at least sophomore standing and a strong record of academic success. Students should have completed one semester of real analysis or abstract algebra prior to going abroad to successfully complete the coursework in Budapest. The student awarded the scholarship must still apply and be accepted to the Budapest program in order to receive the scholarship.
Note: This award will not be offered this cycle (as of February 2, 2026). The deadline to apply to the program for summer is March 1; the deadline to apply to the program for Fall is April 1. Questions about the scholarship can be directed to Prof. Gabriella Pinter.
