About this opportunity

The Early Intervention Study Award is an annual study award offered by New Zealand's Ministry of Education to support early childhood teachers and early intervention teachers in pursuing the Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching (Early Intervention) at Massey University. The award provides comprehensive financial support including a contribution towards travel and accommodation for block courses, full coverage of domestic tuition fees paid directly to Massey University, and an employer contribution to cover teacher release time for up to 50 study leave days per year. This award is specifically designed for registered teachers with current practicing certificates who are employed either by the Ministry of Education, an accredited early intervention service provider, or a licensed early childhood service. Qualified early childhood teachers must have at least 2 years of experience in their role. Applicants must be working full-time or part-time and have rights to live and work in New Zealand permanently. They must also hold a relevant professional qualification such as a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or equivalent. Applications open on 1 August each year and close on 12 September each year, with applicants notified on 25 November each year. Successful recipients must apply to study the diploma at Massey University at the same time they apply for the award. The award cannot be granted to teachers in relieving positions, those not accepted into the Massey University program, or those who have previously received the award but failed the course. Part-time employees receive pro-rata study leave days based on their full-time equivalent status.
