EDF High Hedley Hope 2 Wind Farm Community Benefits Fund

The EDF High Hedley Hope 2 Wind Farm Community Benefits Fund supports local community groups, voluntary organisations and environmental projects in and around the High Hedley Hope 2 Wind Farm located in East Hedleyhope, County Durham. The fund aims to benefit communities within a 3-mile radius of the wind farm including the villages of Cornsay, East Hedleyhope, Esh, Esh Winning, Roddymoor, Satley, Sunniside, Two Law, and Waterhouses. The fund provides grants of up to £2,000 to support projects that improve public amenities such as community halls and sports facilities, environmental and wildlife projects including improvements to open spaces, activities to engage the local community, and energy efficiency or renewable energy projects. Applicants do not need to be registered charities, but must have charitable aims. Eligible organisations include registered charities, CIOs, community and voluntary groups with a constitution, and social enterprises such as CICs and companies limited by guarantee. The fund operates on a rolling basis with no specific deadline, and applications are reviewed within 12 weeks of submission. The fund does not support unspecified contributions to large fundraising appeals, for-profit or commercial elements, general office capital items, public bodies fulfilling statutory obligations, political campaigning, or contingency funding. This community benefits fund is administered by Point North (formerly County Durham Community Foundation) on behalf of EDF Energy.
