About this opportunity
The EDF Langley Wind Farm Community Benefits Fund supports local community groups, voluntary organisations and environmental projects in and around the Langley Wind Farm located in Langley Park, County Durham. This fund benefits communities within a 3-mile radius of the wind farm including Craghead, Esh, Quebec, Sacriston, South Moor and Waldrige areas.
The fund provides grants of up to £2,000 for projects that improve public amenities such as community halls and sports facilities, environmental and wildlife projects including improvements to open spaces, activities to engage local communities, and energy efficiency or renewable energy projects. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with no specific deadline.
Applicants do not need to be registered charities but must have charitable aims. Eligible organizations include registered charities, CIOs, community and voluntary groups with a constitution, and social enterprises such as CICs and companies limited by guarantee. The fund is administered by Point North (formerly County Durham Community Foundation) and decisions are typically made within 12 weeks of application submission.
The fund does not support unspecified contributions to general fundraising appeals, for-profit elements, capital items for general office use, public bodies carrying out statutory obligations, political activity, or contingency funding.
