EDF Walkway Wind Farm Community Benefits Fund

The EDF Walkway Wind Farm Community Benefits Fund supports local community groups, voluntary organisations and environmental projects in and around the Walkway Wind Farm located in Billingham. The fund serves communities within a 3-mile radius of the wind farm, including the villages of Sedgefield, Trimdon, Fishburn and Wynyard in County Durham. The fund supports projects that improve public amenities such as community halls and sports facilities, environmental and wildlife projects including improvements to open spaces, activities to engage the local community, and energy efficiency or renewable energy projects. Awards of up to £5,000 are available to registered charities, community and voluntary groups with a constitution, and social enterprises registered with appropriate bodies. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with no specific deadline, and decisions are typically made within 12 weeks. The fund is administered by Point North Foundation on behalf of EDF Energy as part of their commitment to supporting communities near their wind farm installations. The fund does not support general fundraising appeals, for-profit activities, general office equipment, statutory obligations of public bodies, political campaigning, or contingency funding. Applicants must demonstrate charitable aims and operate within the specified geographic boundaries.
