About this opportunity
The Edison International Lineworker Scholarship is a comprehensive training scholarship program that awards up to $25,000 per recipient to support individuals pursuing a career as a lineworker. The scholarship is funded by Edison International shareholders and IBEW Local 47, and covers the full cost of tuition, tools, and support services needed to complete the required training at the Los Angeles Trade-Technical College.
The program was launched in 2021 as a partnership between Edison International, Southern California Edison, and IBEW Local 47 to provide opportunities for the next generation of lineworkers. Scholarship recipients enroll in the Powerline Mechanic Certificate Program at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and receive comprehensive support to complete their training.
Graduates of the program are eligible for an entry-level skilled trade position at Southern California Edison once they successfully complete the Powerline Mechanic Certificate program, obtain a Class A driver's license, and complete SCE pre-employment requirements. This creates a direct pathway from training to employment in this rewarding outdoor profession.
The program is administered by Scholarship America, the nation's largest designer and manager of scholarship and education support programs. Preference is given to California residents who demonstrate financial need and meet all eligibility requirements.
