About this opportunity

Educational assistance for children provides tax-free financial support to students enrolled in full-time post-secondary education programs. This program is available to children of deceased Veterans or Canadian Armed Forces members whose parent either died as a result of their military service or was receiving a disability benefit assessed at 48% or more at the time of death. The funding can be provided for up to four calendar years or 36 academic months, whichever comes first. Educational assistance covers costs such as tuition, registration fees, exam fees, student activity fees, lab and field course fees, instrument rentals, library fees, and information technology fees. The program also includes a basic monthly allowance that is adjusted annually based on the cost of living index. Recipients must be enrolled in a full-time course of study and must reapply each year to confirm continued enrollment. This program aims to reduce the financial burden of post-secondary education for children who have lost a parent who served Canada.
