About This Opportunity

The Edward and Phyllis McDuffee Memorial Scholarship is granted to a graduating DVM student at the Atlantic Veterinary College who has demonstrated the greatest interest or knowledge in equine behaviour or horse/human interactions. This scholarship was established in honor of Edward and Phyllis McDuffee, parents of Dr. Laurie McDuffee, a large animal surgeon and Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research at the AVC. Edward and Phyllis paid for their daughter's DVM degree at Colorado State University, recognizing the significant financial burden of veterinary education. Dr. McDuffee established this scholarship to help decrease the financial stress that current DVM students face upon graduation, while also promoting her passion for positive horse-human interactions and the importance of understanding equine behaviour and intelligence. The scholarship reflects a commitment to supporting veterinary students who share this dedication to equine welfare and behaviour.
