About this opportunity
One award (minimum $1,000) will be granted to a M.Ed. or PhD student completing a thesis with an Indigenous theme. If there are no qualifying candidates, the award will be granted to a B.Ed. student with an interest in the area. This award honors Rena C. (Reid) McAdam and her husband Edward, who passed away in April 2017 and July 2005 respectively. Rena was a graduate of the Prince Edward Island Hospital School of Nursing and served on the board of the Terrace Bay Hospital. Edward and Rena were residents of New Dominion, PE and spent many years in Terrace Bay, Ontario. They were devoted to companion animals, education and support to the QEH in Charlottetown. Rena was very generous in her Will, leaving a considerable gift to UPEI to establish scholarships for Education and Nursing students, and support to AVC for companion animals. These scholarships have been established in honor of Rena's gifts as per her Will.
