About this opportunity
The Abar Scholarship is given to a student majoring in Communication at Westfield State University. The scholarship recognizes students in their junior year who demonstrate academic excellence, community involvement, and financial need. Applicants must be day, evening, or transfer students with at least 75 credits at the time of application submission.
Eligible students must maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and a minimum GPA of 3.30 in Communication courses. Applicants are evaluated based on their contributions to the Westfield State University Community (such as student newspapers, radio stations, television clubs, music groups, theatre groups, service clubs, counseling centers, athletics, or college governance), contributions to the Greater Westfield Community (including Kiwanis activities, blood drives, Boys & Girls Club, homeless shelters, senior citizen visits, battered women's shelters, hospitals, or charity-related holiday events), and demonstrated financial need.
The scholarship committee reserves the right to verify all submitted evidence. Award amounts vary based on available funding and recipient qualifications.
