EGCS Common Application

This is a common application for multiple scholarship and research support awards offered by the Department of Earth, Geographic, and Climate Sciences (EGCS) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The application covers ten different awards that provide financial support to undergraduate and graduate students in geology, geography, and related earth sciences programs. Awards support various activities including field research, laboratory work, research travel, conference presentations, field course expenses, and general educational costs. The funds are intended to help students cover research expenses such as travel costs, equipment, supplies, laboratory fees, and other costs for which alternative funding may not be available. Recipients are selected based on academic excellence, merit of research projects, and in some cases, demonstrated financial need or specific research focus areas such as Quaternary geology, mineralogy, petrology, or environmental geosciences. The awards honor distinguished faculty members and supporters of the geosciences programs and aim to support students who show outstanding promise as future members of the geological profession. Individual award amounts vary and are determined by the scholarship committee based on the specific fund and student need.
