About This Opportunity

The Elaine Geering Scholarship in English Literature was established by Lloyd Geering in memory of his wife Elaine Geering, who was undertaking a PhD in English Literature at Victoria University of Wellington until her death in 2001. Elaine was particularly interested in Old English and Medieval Literature. The scholarship provides $3,000 (subject to funds available) annually to assist Honours, Masters or PhD students undertaking courses or research in the English department at Te Herenga Waka-Victoria University of Wellington, or students who have completed their undergraduate studies at Victoria University of Wellington and are currently enrolled in postgraduate study of English at an approved overseas institution. The scholarship is offered exclusively to New Zealand citizens and permanent residents. Recipients are selected on the basis of their academic merit and must write a letter of thanks and an end of year progress report to the donor. The scholarship has a tenure of one year and may be held in conjunction with other awards.
