About this opportunity

The Eldon Foote Track and Field Scholarships are awarded annually to Alberta residents who demonstrate superior academic achievement (80% or higher on Grade 12 final marks) and outstanding athletic accomplishment in track and field. Recipients must become members of the University of Alberta Pandas or Golden Bears Track and Field Teams. The scholarship is renewable for up to five consecutive years based on continued academic performance and athletic participation. To re-qualify after the first year, recipients must achieve a minimum GPA of 2.9 on at least 24 credits while maintaining their status as team members and full-time registration. After the second, third, and fourth years, the minimum GPA requirement increases to 3.3 on at least 24 credits. Recipients who are unable to continue due to injury or illness may be reinstated once during the eligibility period. This endowed scholarship was established by Eldon Foote to encourage and financially assist elite male and female track and field athletes in pursuing their academic and athletic careers at the University of Alberta. Preference for athletic accomplishment is given to international, national, and provincial standards respectively. Students must complete Grades 10, 11, and 12 in Alberta and graduate from an Alberta high school within two years of attending the University of Alberta to be eligible for this renewable scholarship opportunity.
