About this opportunity
The Elizabeth A. Salt Montserrat Scholarship was established in honor of Elizabeth Salt, a librarian who developed a relationship with Montserrat after studying the island while pursuing a master's degree in anthropology at The Ohio State University. Following the 1995 volcanic eruption that devastated much of the island, Ms. Salt worked to support the rebuilding of Montserrat's library materials collection. Montserratians highly value education, and as a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean, often send students to the United States and other countries for post-secondary education. This annual scholarship continues Ms. Salt's commitment to supporting higher education for Montserrat's students, providing financial assistance to help them pursue their educational goals at accredited colleges and universities in the United States. The scholarship is administered by The Columbus Foundation and is open to Montserratian citizens and permanent residents who are graduating from secondary-level studies.
