Ellen Cousins Memorial Scholarship in Education

Awarded to an incoming Bachelor of Education student who has shown great potential in their application through community service and motivation for teaching. Ellen Louise (Harrington) Cousins (1915 - 2006) spent her life giving back to her family, friends, community and province. Her teaching career spanned decades and the students she touched are many. She loved her family, her friends and the organizations she so strongly supported such as the IODE. Ellen established two awards at UPEI, one in memory of her much loved daughter Elizabeth (Cousins) Large and another for students attending Kensington High School. In recognition of all that she contributed to her family, friends and profession, and in honour of her memory, the family of Ellen Cousins has established this award for students who plan to pursue a career in teaching.
