About this opportunity

PSI CDT offers four-year fully funded PhD projects focused on making a profound contribution to the UK's research and entrepreneurial capabilities in surgical and interventional health technologies. Launched in 2024, the programme aims to train over 100 doctoral students across three research themes: Smart Instruments & Active Implants, Surgical Data Sciences, and Digital Surgical Twins. The studentships cater for students ready to embark directly on PhD study as well as those requiring further technical skills training through an integrated MRes in Healthcare Technologies. The programme is hosted by King's College London and funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). Successful candidates will work on cutting-edge research projects developing novel instrumentation, leveraging AI and data analytics for surgical applications, and enabling simulation-led development of medical devices.
