About This Opportunity

The Erasmus Scholarship was established by the late Mr D J Riddiford in 1962 to encourage the study of classical languages at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington. This scholarship supports second-year undergraduate students who want to major in Greek or Latin. Recipients must have completed at least one year's study in Greek or Latin and demonstrate their commitment to studying these classical languages. The scholarship provides financial support of $2,000 for one year, with the possibility of reapplying for a second year during the recipient's third year of study. The stipend is paid in two installments during Trimester 1 and 2. Up to two scholarships are awarded annually, and recipients are expected to act as ambassadors for the university and participate in appropriate events or marketing activities if requested. The scholarship may be held in conjunction with other awards.
