About this opportunity
The Eric Joseph & Kathleen Anne Barbach Bursary is a scholarship awarded to outstanding undergraduate and honours engineering students at The University of Queensland. Established in 2023 and maintained by an annual gift from an endowment established within the Perpetual Foundation in memory of Eric Joseph and Kathleen Anne Barbach, the bursary recognizes academic excellence in engineering disciplines associated with the School of Mechanical and Mining Engineering.
The scholarship provides $10,000 in financial support for one year, though the actual amount is limited to the annual distribution from the fund. Students must be studying in specific engineering disciplines including Aerospace, Biomedical, Materials, Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Mining engineering. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement (minimum GPA of 4.5), personal qualities including leadership potential, and must have completed a specified number of course units depending on their specific engineering program.
Applicants must be current UQ students who do not hold similar scholarships and have completed between 28-60 units depending on their specific degree program. The application process includes submitting a cover letter, resume, and academic transcript, with shortlisted candidates potentially invited for interviews. One bursary is awarded annually.
