Erik Børresen Stiftelse

Erik Børresen Stiftelse provides financial assistance for the care and upbringing of children, primarily from Drammen, Norway. The foundation distributes income from investments and rental properties to support children in need. Both private individuals and organizations that support the foundation's objectives are welcome to apply. The foundation was established in 1847 by Erik Andreas Børresen, a prominent shipowner and parliamentarian, who donated 150,000 specidaler for the care and upbringing of orphaned and poor children in Drammen. Historically, the foundation has operated orphanages, schools, and holiday homes. Today, it leases its properties to Børresen School and Buskerud Child and Family Center. The foundation continues its mission by providing grants to support the welfare and education of children, maintaining its founder's legacy of supporting vulnerable youth in the Drammen community.
