About this opportunity

This is a compensation program for sheep killed by protected predators in Norway. Animal owners have a statutory right to full compensation in cases where protected predators such as lynx, wolverine, bear, wolf, or golden eagle cause loss of livestock or domestic reindeer. The program is administered by the Norwegian Environment Agency (Miljødirektoratet) and processed by the county governor (statsforvalter) in the applicant's county of residence. Applicants must submit individual lists containing all individual numbers in the herd, connections between mother and lamb, causes of death, and health/disease information as documentation. Applications are reviewed according to regulations on compensation when livestock is killed or injured by predators.
