About This Opportunity

The starting grant within primary care aims to provide junior researchers within primary care the opportunity to establish themselves as independent researchers in Sweden. This grant supports junior researchers with a research project that has clear anchoring and relevance within primary care. The grant is based on a government assignment and aims to build up and develop research competence within primary care. The initiative supports research projects with clear connection to both primary care and necessary scientific structures, giving opportunity for primary care personnel to conduct research on diseases and conditions that are prevented, diagnosed, treated and referred within primary care, including participation in development of new pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, prevention, medical devices/treatments and digitalization development. This is a 4-year career support grant providing 1,500,000 SEK per year to researchers who completed their doctoral degree more than 2 years and up to 7 years before the application deadline.

Review process

Applications are evaluated by a specialized review panel with international researchers. At least four members review and grade each application individually. The entire review panel meets to discuss and prioritize applications before submitting recommendations to the Subject Council for Medicine and Health.
